Carlson Software Network License Installation Guide (For New Installs)
This information applies to new network installs.
These instructions can also be found at Carlson Knowledge Base article #55.
-
Download the latest SentinelRMS 9.8.0 version of the license management software and install it on the server.
-
Download the CarlsonLMTools 9.5.0221.Zip and extract the files to the server in a location that is both easy to find and easy to remember. You will need these files in the future for license management purposes.
-
Open the LMTools folder and run the regclient.exe to request license files for your new license manager. You will receive a reply (to the e-mail address specified in your request) containing your license file.
- Save the .txt license file (from your reply e-mail) into the LMTools folder.
- On the left-hand side of WLMAdmin you will see Subnet Servers with a plus (+) beside it.
- Click on the plus beside Subnet Servers to “maximize” the list of servers.
- Run the WLMAdmin.exe file, also found in the LMTools folder, to point the license manager to the new license file.
- Right-click on the subnet server that you intend to use for the license manager.
- Select ADD A FEATURE. Then, select FROM A FILE. Lastly, select TO A SERVER AND ITS FILE.
- A Windows browser window will open in the LMTools folder, allowing you to select the license file you received in your email.

-
You should receive a message from the license manager indicating that the license files were added.
- Now, install the Carlson Software product you intend to network onto each of the workstations using the network serial number provided
Workstation Installation
The workstation installation procedure for a network copy of Carlson software is the same as for a regular (non-network) installation.
You can download the Carlson program from the Carlson download page (using your new provided key) and install it on each workstation.
Instructions for a silent install are outlined in Knowledge Base Article #763.
Environment Variables & Connectivity
If you are experiencing difficulty accessing the license files from the workstations, please refer to Knowledge Base Article #211 for troubleshooting the license manager.
