A workaround for everyone who has a FARO Focus Premium scanner*, has no other FARO software (no license of SCENE) AND needs to import FLS files into their non-FARO software.
This workflow shows how to get single file FLS scan files that should work in other programs for registration, analysis or anything else.
*Also can work with FARO Focus Core scanners if they have the Stream app subscription enabled (which the Premium scanners have by default).
This workflow is valid as of May 2023, FARO Focus Premium firmware 7.2.1.
FARO Scene LT 2023 currently cannot open raw scans anymore. That said, you can still import without SCENE or SCENE LT. Using FAROSPHERE, which is FREE.
- Go to www.farosphere.com
- Create an account
- Use the created account credentials to upload & process your scan data (even unregistered) from the FARO Stream App (iOS or Android - no Windows or Mac) to FAROSPHERE
- Once uploaded you can then use the FARO SyncAgent to download the created project from FAROSPHERE onto your computer
- Once downloaded, you will find the "processed FLS" files in the "Revision 2" folder under "Scans".
The thing about the workaround is that you HAVE to use FARO Stream on a device to upload the scan data. Without Stream, there is no way to upload data that was collected WITHOUT using Stream.
When scanning, use your phone/tablet to monitor/collect the scan data while scanning (even if you don't need the Stream to register your data). Then upload collected data to your FREE FAROSPHERE account. Once done, download the processed project and just find the FLS files under "Revision 2".
